what's a toner and why does it cost $

You might think of toner as an extra service you dont need. You need to communicate with your hair artist what you want to achieve. Some like to skip this step or service because of the extra cost. There are times it is necessary to get the exact color you'd like to wear. It is not just for blondes.
What Is A Toner?
A toner is a color. It can warm up or cool down a color, or neutralize unwanted color. It is also available in a more clear coat color, like nail polish. It can add shine to your hair making it glossy. It can make your hair more silvery, rosy, or copper. It is applied right after high lighting services or in between color appointments. It can be applied with foils, fingers, a bottle, or bowel and brush. Processing time can be 5 min-25 min. Toner will fade away like a hair color.
How much will it cost?
There is an up-charge. It is a customized service. The color is specially mixed for your achieved goal. Talk to your colorist about what is right for you. You may need toner during a service or in-between color appointments.
Can I Tone At Home?
Some toners may be used at home in shampoo, conditioner, or masque form. Loma has a true blue- violet collection. It can deposit just the right amount to grey or blonde hair. The violet collection neutralizes unwanted yellow and brassy tones. It deposits quickly while being used as a shampoo and conditioner. The violet conditioner may be used as a violet toning and conditioning masque when applied to almost completely dried hair and left on for 5-15 minutes. Then rinse with cool water.
